Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
Fovea collects no personal data. It has no account, analytics, advertising, tracking, crash reporting or third-party SDKs, and the developer receives nothing about you or your photos.
1. What we collect
Nothing. Fovea does not send any information about you, your device, your photos or how you use the app to the developer or to anyone else. Its App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected.
2. What the app uses on your iPhone
- Camera: used only to take photos.
- Photos: Fovea asks to add photos to your library. If you shoot at 24 MP, it also asks for full access, because iOS finishes those photos in your library and Fovea then opens the photos it took to put your look on them as an edit you can revert. It does not browse or read any other photos in your library. Nothing is uploaded.
- Location (optional): used on your iPhone only to work out when golden hour and blue hour are, for the insight overlay. It is never stored, never sent anywhere and never written into your photos. Turning insights off stops location use, and you can withdraw permission at any time in the iPhone's Settings › Fovea › Location.
- Settings, setting profiles and imported looks (
.cubefiles): stored on your iPhone only.
3. Your shot journal and iCloud
The shot journal records each shot's settings and a small copy of the image. It is stored on your iPhone and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your private iCloud database so it syncs between your devices. That uses Apple's iCloud infrastructure and your own iCloud account, not a server run by Fovea; the developer cannot see it. Deleting a shot in Fovea deletes it everywhere.
4. Third-party services
- Apple App Store (StoreKit): sells and processes the one-time unlock. Fovea only asks the App Store whether the unlock is owned; it never sees your payment details or Apple Account.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit): syncs the shot journal through your own private database, as described in section 3.
Both are covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. Fovea uses no other services.
5. Your rights
Because Fovea collects nothing, there is no copy of your data held by the developer to access, correct or delete. Everything the app stores is on your iPhone or in your own iCloud account, under your control: deleting a shot or deleting the app removes it.
If you are in the UK or EU (UK GDPR / EU GDPR): you have the right to access, correct or erase personal data held about you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information has been collected about you, and to ask for it to be deleted or corrected. Fovea does not sell or share personal information, and does not use it for advertising.
To ask about any of these, email the address in section 8.
6. Children
Fovea is not directed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone, including children.
7. Changes to this policy
